Damage & theft guarantee
This insurance is an optional add-on to your bike rental. It helps limit unexpected costs, so you can enjoy cycling through the Loire Valley with greater peace of mind.

1. Protection against the main rental mishaps
- Accidental damage
- Cover applies to accidental damage sustained by the bike during your rental period.
- Robbery or burglary
- The guarantee may apply following robbery or burglary, subject to the required supporting documents.
- Properly secured bike
- Theft may be covered when the frame is locked to a fixed point using the lock supplied by Ça Roule.
2. A small extra for more predictable risk
The guarantee costs €2 per day including VAT for a standard bike and €4 per day including VAT for an electric bike or a gravel bike.

Excess for a covered incident : You remain responsible for 15% of the repair cost, subject to a €60 minimum. For theft or total damage, the charge is limited to the maximum shown in the final column.
The guarantee and security deposit are different : A security deposit is still required under the rental terms. It is not charged without cause and does not constitute a general limit of liability.
The amounts shown “without guarantee” are maximum replacement charges. Only the substantiated cost of the damage or equipment concerned may be claimed.
3. Know exactly when you are protected
The guarantee reduces the financial impact of a covered accidental event. It does not replace normal precautions.
What is covered
- Accidental damage to the rented bike.
- Theft following assault or threats.
- Theft after forced entry into a closed, solidly built private or commercial premises.
- Theft outdoors or from a shared area when the bike frame is locked to a fixed point using the supplied lock.
What is not covered
- Intentional damage, clear negligence, or improper use.
- Punctures, normal wear and tear, and faults not caused by an accident.
- Loss, abandonment, or theft of a bike left unlocked or without a fixed anchoring point.
- Removable or unattached accessories, including pumps, panniers, and bike computers.
- Failure to follow the rental company’s instructions or repairs arranged without its approval.
Good habits to remain covered
A few simple precautions are essential throughout the rental.
- Always secure the bike frame to a fixed point.
- Use the supplied lock and keep its key safe.
- Do not lend the bike and only use it under the agreed conditions.
- Notify Ça Roule immediately before any repair or intervention.
4. Three steps that help us assist you
Contact us as soon as possible: clear, complete information makes the process much easier.
1. Make sure you are safe
After an accident or damage, stop using the bike if it is no longer safe to ride.
2. Contact Ça Roule
Notify us immediately and send photos and details of what happened. Do not arrange any repair without our approval.
3. Report a theft
File a police report within 24 hours, then send us a copy of the report.
5. Personal liability insurance remains essential
This guarantee covers the rented bike. It does not cover injuries or damage caused to third parties: check that your personal liability insurance covers cycling and the use of rented equipment.
6. Frequently asked questions
- Is the damage & theft guarantee compulsory?
- No. It is an optional extra designed to reduce the amount you may have to pay when a covered incident occurs during the rental.
- When should I choose the guarantee?
- Select it directly in your booking summary before submitting your booking request. Its price is calculated automatically based on the eligible equipment and rental duration.
- Does it apply to all the equipment in my booking?
- The price is calculated per eligible item, per day. When you select the option, it applies to all eligible bikes and trailers shown in your booking summary.
- Is a security deposit still required?
- Yes. The deposit and guarantee serve different purposes. The deposit is released after return when no amount is due, in accordance with the rental terms.
- What if the bike was not locked?
- Theft of an unlocked bike or a bike without a fixed anchoring point is not covered. Outdoors or in a shared area, its frame must be locked to a fixed point using the supplied lock.
- Is a puncture covered?
- No. Punctures and normal wear are not covered by the damage & theft guarantee. Please still contact us if you have a problem so we can advise you.
- How much do I pay for covered damage?
- For covered damage, the excess is 15% of the repair cost, subject to a €60 minimum. The table maximums apply to covered theft or total damage.
- Are accessories covered?
- Removable or unattached accessories are not included in this initial price list. You may therefore remain responsible for their loss or damage.
